Teen crashes stolen car, seven in hospital

SEVEN young people are in hospital after a stolen car driven by a drunk 16-year-old collided with another car on the Victoria-New South Wales border, in southern NSW.
Police said the stolen Daewoo collided with a Nissan Navara on the corner of Pemberton and Jacaranda Streets, West Albury, at about 7.20pm yesterday evening.
The Nissan rolled several times and landed in the east-bound lane, while the Daewoo mounted a nature strip and stopped 50m from the collision.
A 20-year-old female passenger in the stolen car suffered serious spinal injuries and was taken to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, while a 15-year-old girl in the same car suffered several fractures and was taken to Albury Base Hospital.
The 16-year-old male driver of the stolen car allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.09 at the scene and was taken to the Albury hospital, where he is under guard, police said.
The four occupants of the Nissan Navara - a 21-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl - were taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment for cuts and shock.
Both vehicles were seized for examination and investigations continue.
